I bought a new gateway computer for my son's birthday and installed the WMP110 RangePlus wireless PCI adapter. The pc started freezing up and the only way to clear it was to unplug. I took the pc back to BestBuy and they replaced the pc. Well, i installed the WMP110 on the replacement pc and it started freezing up as well. The problem must be the WMP110. I uninstalled it and connected with a wire and it works fine. I installed it again and within a few minutes the pc freezes. Anyone else ever hear of this problem? I think I'm going to just take the WMP110 back to BestBuy and get another one. Should I try a different company's version? The "rangeplus" feature is desirable because my router is in the basement and my son's room is 3 levels up.

Here is the solution that worked for me (I have tried everything, and this finally worked):
1.) Uninstall all drivers to the wireless adapter. 2.) Restart PC. 3.) Once restarted, insert the CD that came with the wireless adapter. Cancel the auto-run and go into 'My Computer'. 4.) Right-click on the CD drive that contains the CD for the adapter, and click 'explore'. 5.) Now, right-click on the 'Setup.exe' and click 'Properties'. 6.) In the window that appears, click the 'Compatibility' tab at the top. 7.) Check the box that says 'Run this program in compatibility for'. 8.) From the drop-down box, select 'Windows XP (Service Pack 2)'. 9.) Click Apply, then OK. 10.) Double-click on 'Setup.exe' and follow the instructions. If it asks you to shut down your computer, do so and then boot it back up right away.
These are the steps I did, and it worked fine. If the wireless card is still not working, let me know and I will try to further assist you.

Well, I made the same mistake that you all did. I read on the box that this card was compatible with Vista. I bought two, one for me (Vista x64) and one for my girlfriend (XP Pro). My girlfriend's installed and works fine, mine freezes immediately any time the card attempts to connect to my network. I tried the fixes above, but nothing works. The driver was released April 2008 - 8 months old already - which was a month after Service Pack 1 was released en masse to the public. I find it hard to believe this driver hasn't been updated or fixed. Enough time has passed. This is a top-of-the-line product and it doesn't work with Microsoft's standard OS after 8 months. Not only that, but it's deceptively labeled as such! I like the card, and I want to use the card, so I'm going to bite the bullet and go back to XP, but come on guys. Terrible job by linksys here. I expected a lot more. This card was not cheap either. I was confident that I was buying from a reputable, quality company, but next time maybe I'll just reach for Netgear or D-link.
