I have the same exact problem but only when the WRT54G2 is setup for a Static IP. I have both a comercial and residential cable modem. One is static, the other is dynamic. When the computer is connected directly to the modem and setup with the static IP it works fine. I have updated the firmware. Funny, they edited my post for guideline compliance. ( Not sure why, I think I said I thought the product wasn't very good)
(Edited post for guideline compliance. Thanks!)

Hello folks, im doing a vpn as i type this in, with the WRT54G2, with the latest firmware. i only have to figure out how to have the windowsfirewall up and exclude the vpn connection or something.... with kind regards, NL-user 19.34: weird now i can't vpn anymore... it worked but now it doesn't anymore 22.39 second time i could get it to work, but afther a minute Windows xpautomatically loses the connection for some reason (icon disapears in taskbar). then i get a 'error 619'. The firewall is off. 22.55 got connection again, windows loses the connection again, but now more actively, icon disapears in taskbar. The firewall is off, portranges open in router are 1722-1724 and 46-48 on the ip adres of the client pc. 23.43 I quit. I can't get it to work this way. would this help?: http://www.chicagotech.net/casestudy/vpnerror619.htm http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-3448777.php Message Edited by amsterdam1 on 10-10-2008 02:44 PM Message Edited by amsterdam1 on 10-10-2008 02:44 PM

same here...this is obviously an issue with the firmware (like i told the linksys tech that tried diverting me for 60+ minutes) so just fix it! i'm a network admin by trade and i can guarantee you i'm not doing anything wrong here...i can telnet to port 1723 on the Remote Access server yet I cannot establish a VPN connection. it constantly times out after trying to authenticate. take the linksys out of the equation (even replace it with an older linksys) and it works fine. I have wasted weeks of my time trying to get wrt54g2 to work with my vpn, and like many of you, I have lost the battle. If you want to surf the net, this is your router. If you wish to get stuck in Error 619 hell, this is also your router. If you want to access VPN, keep on looking. I have tried every configuration, changing both my router and my modem, and nothing works. Port forwarding, bridge mode, updating firmware, etc.... googling, my own company's IT department, IT forums and live chat with Linksys support. Never can I maintain a connection for more than two minutes. It was a complete waste of $40. Such a shame the product is so difficult to use.
