My new WRT160N router cannot connect wirelssly to the Inernet.  I have set it up several times and my computer connects to the router, but the router cannot connect to the Internet.

The message in 'Windows Nework Diagnostics - Vista" says:  Network diagnostics pinged the remote host but did not receieve a response.  Cannot communicate with Primary DNS Server (192.168.1.1).

I installed the WRT160N router successfully, setting the type of connection (B/G/N/) to mixed. My laptop and wireless printer see the network just fine, but when I try to logon with the laptop, I get the following error message: "The network password needs to be 40 bits or 104 bits depending on your network configuration. This can be entered as 5 or 13 ASCII characters or 10 or 26 hexadecimal digits." I can't figure out when I go back to the setup of the router which settings need to be changed and to what. The wireless printer can't log on to the router either. Thanks...

Why did you install Linux? I'm using a Mac

try this,

connect your pc up with the modem directly..can you get out into the world?

if yes then start>run> type cmd> type "ipconfig /all"

it should show at least two dns servers copy those address down and put into the router on the home page

If no is your answer then either the problem is within your network settings on our pc or your providers dns servers are down or misrouted.

let us know if that helps or not so we can move foward.

I recently purchases a HP wireless desktop computer and printer.  I am unable to use either via wireless connection.  The router is working because I have no problem with the laptop connecting.  Help
