I think its pretty obvious that they know about it and just don't care. People have been whining about this firmware since it was released and what do we have to show from it? Nothing, not even a response from them about "yeah we know". Those are all signs leading to one thing. "Signs that say they aren't going to fix it." I'm sure buying a *new* router from linksys will though. And the chances of that ever happening gets smaller and smaller every day.

The whining noises etc sounds more like a hardware problem, to me.

Perhaps we're waiting for a V2 or something.   Maybe these suckers will get recalled and replaced with something that does as advertised.

The new beta makes some transfers much faster, but still no go on FTP :smileysad:

Just encountered this problem too on my home router. Funny thing is that I use the same router at work and it has no problems... even the same service provider. I replaced my old netgear for this as it overheated like crazy, needed rebooting every couple of days. wrvs has been a lot better until this. My keen issues is the ftp not working.

Well - the FTP problem didnt start until the Oct 31, 2007 firmware.

Is it possible the one at work has an older version?  If so, you may notice IPS issues and wireless issues. (but not the ftp issue)

This is just totally unacceptable. As someone else stated Linksys must not pay attention to what goes on in their own forums. I called about the ftp issue a few weeks ago and I told them I understand its a known issue (found out from a simple google search) and that told me it wasn't an issue that they were aware of. I just wanted to find out an eta on the firmware update.

I have this issue where I can't FTP out from behind the WRVS4400N - I have to disconnect the router and plug into the cable modem. FYI, I tried to use LiveChat tech support, and it said that the WRVS4400N is not supported on LiveChat. I called, and I was on hold for an hour on the tech support line, but they never picked up.

This is a known issue from October 2007, and its not you.

Look back at the start of this thread for details.

Hopefully a fix is forthcoming.

Hopefully would be nice, but as the rest of us have already come to accept is that there won't be a fix coming out.

I'm losing FTP from behind the router too. I keep coming back to this site looking for an update and nothing... Its hard to believe considering this and the wireless ap stability both seem like pretty big issues. What is going on Linksys?

I have the same FTP problems as everyone else here. As soon as I power-cycled the router, FTP was successful.

This is pretty sad. I work for Microsoft who recently offered a list of Christmas gift options that we could choose from (one of the items was this router).

A large number of us chose this router, and needless to say, almost all of us are extremely frustrated over this issue as well as other problems that have been intermittenly occurring for some folks.

Since we didn't have to pay for it, a lot of the MS engineers who've had problems simply threw it in the trash and bought routers from other manufacturers with their own money.
