I could not find a BEFW1S4 V4.  Do you mean the BEFW11S4 V4 ?

If so, the User Guide for the BEFW11S4 V4 says that the router supports WPA  (with TKIP, but not with AES).

Yes, I used to have that router.  It does in fact support WPA TKIP only.

If that is the case, where on the router's web page do you find that option?

There is not much info on this in the BEFW11S4 version 4 user guide, but on page 17, it does show that you can set the router for:

Security Mode:    WPA - pre-shared key
Algorithm:   TKIP

This is the same as WPA.

The settings are on the router setup pages, "Wireless" tab, "Wireless Security" subtab.

Thank you.  I will try that out when I get home later.  Have you tried this and does it work and not lose the IP address and internet connection?  I am doing this for a friend, but I have since switched to the Airport Extreme router, which is a zillion times better than linksys in terms of set up and it working.
