Try changing the LAN IP of the router to 192.168.5.1 to prevent router and modem IP conflicts. By the way, who is the service provider?

Hi Kreksie. Have you tried connecting the pc directly to the modem (without the router) just to see that it is not a problem with the modem or with the Internet Service provider?

Tell us what happens okay? Observe the connection for awhile though.

When I changed the LAN IP, all my shared folders were no longer working. I guess it worked fine except for that, but that isn't acceptable for me.
It seems a lot of times if I go to do something on one PC or another, I will come back to the other PC to see connections (id est MSN, Bittorrent) will have been interrupted. Sometimes I might be watching a video or something on PC 1 that is hosted on PC 2, and I go to PC 2 and see this kind of thing [disconnection], and then discover the internet is not working on either machine. It's odd, since the video continues to play and the shared folders are apparently accessible.
So, to summarize, I guess I'm asking: Do I have to rerun the Network Setup Wizard or something to get shared folders to still be accessible on a new LAN IP?
P.S. The connection reset/messed-up as I was typing this, so I don't think it's fully related to the other PC(s). Do you think a firmware update could fix these problems?

You can try running the network wizard again. But changing the IP of the router should not have affected the file sharing anyway. Try upgrading the router's firmware. What version is currently loaded on the router?
