I've had WRT160NV2 for about a year. I've never messed with the settings and it was set-up by the guy who installed the satalite internet connection here at my house back then.

I'm trying to connect my Wii, but I don't know my WEP network key, username or password! I've been using xbox live for a year with no problems, using an ethernet cable into my linksys.

I've tried using the username blank and using "admin" in lowercase for the password, nothing works.

I don't really want to reset my router because i'm not to familar with reconfiguring it. I'm also scared i'll mess something up and not be able to connect my laptop or xbox live. I'm tempted to get the adapter for  the wii and run a cable like I do with my xbox.

What should I do?  Thanks for any help!

1. Check how the WRT is connected to your modem. If the internet port of the WRT is connected to the modem then continue. If not, please post again. (Do not change it).

2. Wire a computer to the WRT. Open a command prompt window. Enter "ipconfig" and check the number for your "default gateway". It should be 192.168.1.1.

3. Open the IP address of your default gateway in the browser, i.e. enter http://192.168.1.1/

4. It will ask you for username/password. Enter no username and password "admin".

5. If you are able to enter the web interface of the router, click on Wireless and then Wireless Security. It will show you the current passphrase or encryption keys.

6. If you are not able to enter the web interface, try different passwords which may have been set or ask the guy for the password. If you don't know the password there is nothing you can do but resetting the router to factory defaults.

If you want to connect your WII wirelessly to the Router, if you don't know the security the only way to retrieve your security, is by logging to the Router setup page.

If you don't remember the router password, have you tried using your regular password or else get hold of the Guy who have setup your Router and get the Routers password from him, if that still doesn't work then the only way to retrieve is to reset your router and re-configure all the settings back on your Router.

If you don't wish to reset your Router then the only way to make you WII work with your Router is, you need to Hardwired your WII to your Linksys Router and you should be Online.

Ok, I reset the router.

The problem I have now is getting my laptop to connect wireless again.

When I go to choose a wireless connection I get the message

" Windows cannot configure this wireless connection. If you have enabled another program to manage this wireless connection, use that software."

I'm really bad at this stuff and feel like i'm messing stuff up even more.

Your guys' help is very appreciated!

Trying to get my laptop connected back with my WRT160NV2.

I've managed to change the network key and tried to connect to the linksys wirelessly now.

I seemed to be connected but can't access the internet.

Signal strength is excellent
Status is limited or no connectivity...

And I went and bought a network adapter for the wii and still can't get this thing connected either. I got error # 52120 on the wii this time.

What could I possibly be doing wrong?

AAHHH!!

I was typing in the passphrase instead of the password the whole time!

Turns out I wasted alot of time and money buying the adapter.

Oh well, atleast everything's working now!
