I have been trying to reinstall my  WRT610N for the past two days.

It only seems to work through the wired port(s) and not wireless.

I have downloaded the latest firmware upgrade from linksys support and still no luck.

The WPS light remains on constantly and the power light blinks continously also.

I have held down the reset button for 30 sec, I have unplugged the power cord,

As soon as I plug the cord back in, the WPS light comes on and the power light never stops blinking.

I cannot access the web based setup page while connected through the wired port, everytime I type http://192.168.1.1 into the address bar it says "page cannot be displayed"

I have run out of options to try.

Someone please give me something new to try or change something I have already done.

Kudos!

What you could try is performing a hard reset. You can do it as follows:

Press the reset button (keep it pressed the whole procedure).

Wait 10 seconds.

Unplug the powercord and wait 10 seconds.

Plug the powercord back in and wait 10 seconds.

Now release the reset button and unplug the powercord for 5 seconds and plug it back in.

Is the powerlight on continuously after a minute? Then stop here. Else you can try if you can ping the router.

Do this by going to Start > Run (Start and then the bottom searchbox in Windows Vista and 7) and type in cmd.

Then, in a black screen, type in: ping 192.168.1.1 and see if you get a response. If not? Your device is most likely broken.

Thanks for the response.

I tried pinging for the second time (I forgot to mention the first try in my original post) and the result was

"request timed out".

I also tried holding the reset button the whole time of unplugging and pluging in the power cord and then releasing the reset button, unplugging and pluging back in.

After all that, the power light still flashes continously.

Also, I don't know if this is part of the problem, but the USB indicator light on the front remains on the entire time. I have nothing plugged into the USB slot so I don't know why that light would be on.

The unit is out of warranty, "linksys live chat" said they couldn't help me because of the expired warranty, but I managed to get a little bit out of them.

That sounds like bad news. Only if you could ping the device, there was a possibility to fix it. Sadly there is no connection at all. That means that the device is broken and I can't do much for you.

Sorry about that. I'm affraid that you can't return it back to the store, unless the device is less than 1 year old.

Kudos!

I originally noticed it had stopped broadcasting in the 2.4 Ghtz frequency and was only using the 5Ghtz when I had it setup to use both.

I tried switching back to the 2.4 and my passphrase didn't match the network settings (I had never changed my passphrase recently,  the last time I did change the password (June 2009) I wrote it down and left it next to the router).

That's what prompted the reinstall.

What's weird about the whole ordeal is that I can connect through the router using one of the wired ports.  Right now I have a 100 ft ethernet cable connected because the router is upstairs and my laptop is downstairs.

Thank you to everyone for the responses.

I guess I'll be looking to get a new router in the near future,

Kudos!

As the power light is blinking..it means that the firmware of the router got corrupted..Try this link.If you still get the same result then, the router is gone bad.

I went to that link and it looks like the same procedure that 3lit3 instructed me to do. I will do the process over again and see what happens.
