Hello, Since December 2008 I am using the WRT160n V2 router and experienced UPNP issues. The problem that I'm experiencing is that executables that normally connect to the internet with the use of UPNP (TCP/UDP ports) are blocked, even if the UPNP box in the administration tab is checked. I have found that this problem occurs at two wrt160n v2 routers (family of mine has this version to). My first solution was to upgrade to the latest firmware (2.0.2). This did not change anything yet. Is this problem generally already been recognized. Does the fact that i am an European user have any relation to these issues. When using port range forwarding the programs are not blocked any more. However, home network IP addresses change often so UPNP is the best solution. DMZ is only an option for my xbox. Does anybody experience the same problems? Is there a solution yet to these problems. Thanks in advance.

As port forwarding is more stable then UPNP. If you home Network Ip changes often , then you can give a static ip to your computers on which you want to enable port forwarding. Since you have already upgraded the firmware on your router, you need to reset your router and re-configure all the settings on it again, and check if that works.

One of my computers doesn't work with static ip adress and can't connect to internet. I'am more interested in other people experiences with the upnp functionality of the wrt160n? Do other people also have trouble with connecting executables to the internet with the use of upnp. The previous first installed firmware also gave the same troubles with upnp when configured out of the box. So, in my case this probably is not the solution.

I have the same problem with my WRT160Nv2, the upnp crashing every day. I tried the beta 2.0.3 US firmware but no success. (Mod note: Edited for guideline compliance.) Message Edited by iamgiantherockstar on 05-07-2009 11:13 AM

I have the WRT160N v2 with exactly the same problem. I ran a upnp diagnostics utility after checking out any problems with the OS, application, firewall, and router settings. The diagnostics failed. My verdict. Upnp on the WRT160N is BROKEN. If someone out there is successfully configuring port forwarding say so right here. (Yes, it IS POSSIBLE to MANUALLY configure the ports. (I'm not interested in any responses dealing with that issue-JUST UPNP!) FIX THE PROBLEM, CISCO

Same problems here. uPNP is broken on the WRT160N V2. Some programs, such as Windows Live Messenger, rely solely on uPNP and port forwarding is not an option.

Same issue here. I cannot get UPnP to work with this WRT160Nv2 at all. It is enabled in the settings but on no computer does it show. I've run the Microsoft Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/using/tools/igd/default.mspx) and it confirms the router is not supporting UPnP.
