*THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN SOLVED*

I solved this issue after it seemed like I tryed everything but nothing worked. What I did was use a PPPoE connection and my ISP walked me through how to do it, now when connected straight to my modem i get NAT 1, but through the modem is useless so I managed to (i think) setup PPPoE on the router and I get a perfect type 2!!!! So coming from me if nothing works setup up your PS3 with a PPPoE and make sure your routers settings are configured properly, any advice on setting up a PPPoE through the router would be nice though since I just kept all the default settings.

I found the problem on the Administation/Management page at the bottom you will find upnp enable "Enable It" and under that you will find Muticast passthrough "Enable It".  We set up up the PS3 manually with a static IP outside the range of dhcp and Whaa La it works like a champ hope this helps someone I worked on this stupid thing all night thanks for nothing LS.

I have a wrt54gx2 when you call up the router using the IP 192.168.1.1 there is a an Administration tab at the very bottom of the page there is  Multicast Pass Through Enable/Disable.  I am not sure where it would be on your router but that is where it is on the 54g.

First of all i have a linksy WRT54G ver6 fully updated router and my modem is from my service provider EMBARQ which is the 660series  and to make this simply as possible unlike the other threads i have read cause just like you guys who is still stuck on Nat3 for your ps3 i've tried everything in and under the book and all that stuff about open ports and dmz throw it all out the window so here it is just like your router that has it own web base page such as 192.168.1.1 your modem has the same page and when i called my service provider yesterday it was so simply i felt crazy after they had me on hold for 40min but well worth it and all i had to do was bridge my modem and after i click the button that said bridge the modem i was done and all i had to do after then was recycle the power on my router and modem just a reminder i said recycle not reset then i turned my ps3 on went to network settings and did everything in auto config and there i had it the wonderful NAT2 i couldn't believe my eyes after all the time and research i put in all i had to do was call my service provider who were wonderful besides having me on hold for 40min but thank god for speaker phone lol

I believe the 660 dhcp is set to server by default. Click LAN in the menu to check. If so its starting ip is 192.168.2.2, if you set the NAT sue details to that IP it will open all ports to your linksys router which should be the first thing plugged in after the embarq modem. Then from the linksys router you can successfully use DMZ, heres a tip use the MAC address of your PS3 or Xbox, and not an IP address. This is what i had to do to get my web server/ps3/and xbox to work(web site didnt work outside my lan untill I changed it to this.) I have wrt350n though so who knows.

How about for the 360? It keeps telling me this... "Your NAT type is Moderate. People on networks with this NAT type may not be able to join certain games or hear other people while playing online. For the best online experience, you need an open NAT configuration."

I have a WRT54GS2 router. I keep getting the NAT: Type 3 message on my PS3. I have used Port Forwarding and Triggering, set my Ps3 in the DMZ of the router, disabled all firewalls, and I still get NAT: Type 3. My ISP is through satellite, and they told me that the modem was DHCP only. Is there anything I missed?
