You need to map the network drive connected to the router. 1. Login to the router's web interface and create a share for the storage drive. 2. Create a user with admin rights. 3. Map the drive on your windows computer. Start> Search> Search for computer on network> enter the IP of your router - hit enter. You'll find a folder for you drive - double click on it - it would prompt for username & password - enter the user information that you have created and it would display the contents. 4. Now click on Tools and select Map network drive. This is will display the drive under My computer. Try this out and let me know if it works.

....Try this out and let me know if it works.
And let us know how many times the NAS is disconnected by the router after a week of use.

@ Toosmart. That solution works, and I really think that's crap that users have to resort to methods such as this to get something to work, that should work in the "Linksys EasyLink Advisor". "Add Device / other devices (such as printer, camera, or storage device)" What a bunch of crap!! Again thanks much for the help, Toosmart. @ Signal2Noise. I will try to keep my results posted here in this thread.

Your post put me on the right track but I hate mapped drives. They are so archaic. It seems that all that is needed is to supply the password to the router and tell it to remember it, then you can just add it to My Network Places. The first steps are the same. You have to set up a user with admin rights (using the admin account doesn't work). Then search for the name of the router. I left my router's name at the default WRT610N. Double-click on the found item, and supply the username and password. After that Windows will find it when browsing or by typing \\WRT610N\Share in the RUN window. Vista Users: Yes, Vista doesn't have a "Computers on Network" option, but in the search window by the start button, type \\your_router_name and vista will search the network and find it.

Do you mean that the router drops the connection with the external drive or that your computer drops the connection with the share? I can't really answer you're specific situation. All I know is that my 1T sata drive (in a cheap $20 external case from geeks.com) hasn't dropped, and neither has the network connection. In fact, the "configure" share added itself to my network places without intervention from me. If you are having trouble with the drive staying connected to the router, you might consider a different drive case. RoyBro
