Now that I'm "wireless" again I'm afraid to make any changes, but I'm confused.  When I put 192.168.1.1 into my browser the router info comes up but I noticed my PPPoE password is 16 characters long and my password is only 10 characters long.  Is this unusual?  I have Verizon DSL, my computer is running Windows Vista, and my router is a WRT54GS V.7.  I tried to change it and save settings but it just stays at previous settings.

that is normal don't worry about the 16digit password that you have now, because after you save the settings with pppoe automatically the router will generate the 16digit character password from your internet service provider.

Do not worry about the password ... it is the same password what you are using with DSL connection .... It is just for security reson that it is showing in different format....

I'm trying to re-install wireless connection on a new laptop - previous was done years ago - and I've forgotten router password.  Is there a work around or password reset function?

my husband was trying to fix our wireless so our neighbors couldn't share it and i don't know what he did but now when we try to connect using a wireless connection it asks for a linxsys password. it says the person who set up the network should have it but neither of us remember putting any kind of password for the wireless router. please help asap.
thanks,

Lost home wireless connection when restoring system on Gateway laptop. WRT54GS router is connected to iMac. Do not have router password, as it is old and forgotten and thus, cannot reconnect laptop to wireless system. Only have Setup Wizard disc that came with router. Any suggestions? Thanks.
