I purchased this wireless router (WRT310N) so I could access the Net using my iPod Touch however while the iPod detects the network I am unable to access the network even though I am typing in the correct password.  Anybody else have this problem?  What am I doing wrong?  Is this an iPod issue or a Linksys issue?  Please help.

I don't think that there is an issue of I-Pod with Wireless router ....
Still you can try assgning static Ip to the I-Pod .... so that it will get connected to the wireless router....
Also make sure that if already you are using any static Ip or not....

I am having the same problem with my ipod touch. I don't think it is an ipod problem because sometimes mine will pick up my neighbors unsecured signal and let me on.  I don't want to use their signal when I have my own but mine is secured with a password that I set yet my ipod won't let me on with it. It asks for a password and when I type in the one I set up my router with it won't accept it.  I tried to go into my router properites and change my password to see if that would work but can't figure that out.  Please, if you know how to connect an ipod touch, let me know what I am doing wrong.  I bought this for my son's birthday and he is very let down that he can't get on the internet.
Thank you,
Amy

Can someone explain how to assign static IP?  I have the EXACT same problem with my iPod Touch too.

Ultimately, I hope there will be someone that will explain the fix in detail.

Thank you.

What wireless security do you use? WEP, WPA or WPA2? If WPA/2 what encryption? TKIP or AES? If WEP what do you enter on the iPod? The passphrase or key 1? It should be key 1! Did you try the other security mode?

The "Security Mode" is WPA.  The WPA encryption method is tkip.

Are you sure you enter the passphrase correctly? Try to change the passphrase temporarily to something simple like "12345678".

Also, make sure that you do not use the SSID "linksys". Change your SSID to something unique. You don't want to connect accidentally to your neighbor's router.

Don't disable SSID broadcast. It only causes trouble.

Try toremove the wireless network from your iPod touch: select it and choose "Forget this network". Then go back and select "Other...". Now enter your SSID as network name. Choose Security WPA. Then enter the passphrase into the Password field. Press Join.

See if it connects now. Do you get the check mark to the network name now?

gv, thank you very much for the assistance.  I will try what you suggest in a few days, when I get some free time.

I just ran across this problem today with a brand new WRT310N and brand new iPod touch.  I tried that password over and over again and finally decided to test the system using my laptop.  When my laptop found the Linksys it didn't ask for my password, but rather it asked for my Security Key!  That hint sent me back to the iPod touch.  I input my Security Key, and remember that you need to push the upper case key for every letter of the alphabet individually, hit "Join", and presto I was in.  As usual, it was Apple's arrogance and disdain for providing any information other than "unable to join" that prolonged figuring out what was wrong.

The fix?  Instead of entering the password as requested by the iPod touch input the Security Key paying attention to the case.

Kudos!
