A bit of background info about my current setup, I am using a westell 6100 dsl modem and the WRT54GS V7.2 router. The cd set up did not work, to get the router to work I changed the router IP to 192.168.2.1. (changed router pw as well) All other settings remain untouched.
Initially the wireless wasn't working, I changed that to channel 11, and now it works, I can access it with my laptop.

Now I want to add a password to my router/wifi so I can limit who can use my connection. I am hoping there is a simple solution (as in anyone who knows the password set for the wifi can connect)

Thank you for reading.
Kudos!

In your "Setup Page", "Wireless" Tab, "Wireless Security" Sub-tab, "Security Mode" Option Box, Click on the drop-down arrow, Your choices are Disable, WEP, WPA-Personal, WPA2-Personal, WPA-Enterprise, WPA2-Enterprise, or RADIUS. Choose one. I personally use WPA2-Personal (TKIP + AES) algorithm but others may disagree :smileyhappy: Next create a STRONG "Shared Key" between 8 and 63 characters long. (Mine is 33 characters) This is your "Passphrase" or "Password" that you share with those you will allow access to your "Wi-Fi" connection. On the bottom of the page, click on "Save Settings" and you're done.

Yes you can use the disk for changing the password. But its much better to do manually using the web interface of the router.
