A bit of background info about my current setup, I am using a westell 6100 dsl modem and the WRT54GS V7.2 router. The cd set up did not work, to get the router to work I changed the router IP to 192.168.2.1. (changed router pw as well) All other settings remain untouched. Initially the wireless wasn't working, I changed that to channel 11, and now it works, I can access it with my laptop. Now I want to add a password to my router/wifi so I can limit who can use my connection. I am hoping there is a simple solution (as in anyone who knows the password set for the wifi can connect) Thank you for reading.

In your "Setup Page", "Wireless" Tab, "Wireless Security" Sub-tab, "Security Mode" Option Box, Click on the drop-down arrow, Your choices are Disable, WEP, WPA-Personal, WPA2-Personal, WPA-Enterprise, WPA2-Enterprise, or RADIUS. Choose one. I personally use WPA2-Personal (TKIP + AES) algorithm but others may disagree Next create a STRONG "Shared Key" between 8 and 63 characters long. (Mine is 33 characters) This is your "Passphrase" or "Password" that you share with those you will allow access to your "Wi-Fi" connection. On the bottom of the page, click on "Save Settings" and you're done.
