After trying for several hours to get the Wireless printserver WPS54G installed under Windows Vista, I finally made it work. Below is the step by step process... 1) Download the setup utility 2) Run the utility and record the IP address it lists is for your printer 3) Add your printer A) For your install type it is a Wireless/Bluetooth/Network Printer B) Select my printer is not displayed text C) Select TCP/IP under the connection type and make sure the device type is set to TCP/IP. (Also, uncheck the option to automaticaly determine your printer driver) D) Fill in the IP address you used and make the port name IP_(your IP address) E) When it asks about the device type select custom and set the printer type to LPR with a que name of P1 or possibly L1. F) After the printer is installed, right-click on it in the printers folder and goto properties. G) From the properties page goto Ports and disable bi-directional printing. F) Still in the properties page goto advanced and select print directly to Printer. 4) Run a test print and ensure that everything works as it should.

Linalley, Thank you for the Great post! After too many hours on my own, and 2 hours with tech support who told me Vista was not supported I ran across your post. I now have my wife's new HP laptop running Vista Premium and my older HP running XP printing perfectly to a HP8250 PhotoSmart printer. The new TCP/IP connection did the trick! Thanks again, Amanatsm

This works - thanks. Why is this not an official tech note so that it can be found in Tech Support?

Thanks a lot! This was of great help. I my case I had to make a few things slightly different: 1. I was not able to make the setting: "print directly to pinter" Vista Home Premium created an error and would not save the settings. I had to leave in running over spooler, but this worked. (Still uncheck bidirectional and save that setting is important!) 2. I had to select on the propperties page the correct connetion (IP_adress of wireless-G), which is somewhat straight forward.

Thank-you so much, after wasting an entire 8 hour day with nothing productive accomoplished, trying to figure out why my laptop wouldn't print. Your post saved me from throwing it out the window and going out to buy a XP machine in the morning. I hope Linksys reads your post and informs their "so called" help desk that told me the print server would work with vista after I told them its been working for 3 months! Thanks again.

Has these steps worked for everyone? My print server is connected to a HP LaserJet 1300. I can't seem to correctly configure my print server so that it will print correctly. Any other suggestions?
