Hello, I have a problem, ever since I installed the USB adapter, windows XP no longer does the auto-login procedure. It no longer allows you to login just clicking a square, or in my case, when there is but one account, login on that account. Also, pushing ctrl+alt+del does not give the task manager but produces the Windows NT/2000 intermediate dialog window from which you have to choose the task manager. I want to get the old behavior back, but the USB adapter's software and drivers turns off the ability to go back in the account screen, saying linksys has disabled it.

Please tell me there's a way to get the old behavior back, as well as use the linksys USB adapter?

I've encoutered this concerns previously. What I did was uninstall the adapter then download the latest driver for the adapter and reinstall it using the driver from the download site - http://www.linksys.com/download

hope this works for you!

3DMaster, let me elaborate facelessvoids solution...When the WLAN for this particular adapter is installed, the FUS(Fast User Switching) feature on winXP will be disabled. It will disable other users on your computer leaving only the Administrator. Thats why you need to uninstall the adapter WLAN then reinstall it using the latest drivers.

How do you remove a driver when the uninstall program is already removed? I can't install the new driver until the old one is gone, but I once removed the program but not the driver in order to try and solve it. Now I can't get rid of it. Going to System, and then to hardware management, getting the linksys adapter and there telling it to uninstall the driver doesn't work. De linksys adapter disappears, but the new driver still gives the same warning, and restarting the computer simply brings back the adapter and its driver.

if this is the case the to set the computer to safe mode and uninstall all the components of the linksys adapter while in safe mode but if this doesn't work I guess you need to have a registry cleaner for this one.

And exactly where and how do I find all linksys components? Isn't there some manual somewhere for manual removal? I know quite some companies have such a procedure (even to need to be used after the uninstall program is run to its full conclusion yet leaves stuff behind, which always makes me wonder why the uninstall program doesn't do it properly, completely from the get go...).

You can try running the setup cd again. It will automatically detect that the software/driver is currently installed. Then it will give you an option to uninstall it on the setup wizard.

Not only do the new drivers not solve the welcome screen login problem, they also crash my computer. (Well, slow it down to a snail's pace; estimate half an hour before the start up procedure is finally started; I didn't wait and removed them again.)
