Hi, I recently upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7 64bit.  The main router we have is the WRT300N which is located upstairs.  My desktop is downstairs with the WUSB600N adapter I just bought today because the old adapter I had wasn't compatible with Windows 7 or the drivers just weren't out yet.  I set everything up fine but I noticed now the signal strength I used to have with the other adapter (good to very good) is now at a fair-poor with the WUSB600n.  The internet still works fast but when I want to play online games the pings are too high.  I dont understand how this could happen, unless this adapter is somehow weaker in its range expansion then my older one (WMP54GX)...I tried adjusting the wireless settings that were advised in the support questions on the website, but it hasn't made much of a difference.  If anyone else is having similair issues or has a solution I would really appreciate it.  Thank you.

On the router setup page, under wireless tab...Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Under Advanced Wireless Settings...Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...Now,check..

CNET gave that router horrible reviews on long range concidering it being a N router. But it was a "Draft N" router so... The review was done in 2006.

If you recently purchased it, I suggest you return it and get a WRT400/600 or 610 N. You did good with the adapter, just not the router.

User reviews for that model were not any better. In fact, the range is the biggest complaint on that model.

Also, does that router offer 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands? I went with the WRT400N because of the dual band and it was $129.00. Im using the WUSB600N with it

and can walk all over the house upstairs and down with no fluctuation in signal strength under the 5Ghz band. Good luck.
