I am try to configure the WET610N using my Laptop so I can use it on my receiver and other devices.

I did mention in my previous post that the included CD Set-up wizard is not compatible with Windows 7 although the WET610N Bridge itself is. I'm using Windows 7 (64bit) with the Linksys Cisco WET610N right now.

You are proceeding correctly, that's what I did. I used my Vista laptop to set-up the Bridge then just plugged it into my Windows 7 ethernet port. It really was very easy. I don't expect you'll have a problem.

The Setup disk which came along with WET610N is not compatible with Windows 7. You can try to configure the Bridge on a Different computer using the Setup disk or else you can configure all the settings on your Bridge Manually...

To Configure your Bridge Manually, Connect the Bridge to your Router using an Cat5 cable. Login to the Router setup page and check the IP address of the Bridge under the DHCP Client table List. Once you know the IP address of the Bridge and you can login to the setup page of the Bridge and make the change on it. The wireless settings on your Bridge should identical to your Routers wireless settings.

Once you are done with the Settings, then you can unplug the Cat5 cable from the Bridge and then unplug the power from the Bridge, wait for 30seconds and re-connect the power to the Bridge and now your Bridge should be ready to Use.

I'm sorry that your having so much trouble getting the WET610N to work. It installed easily for me, maybe because I used Vista to configure it and it seems that you are using XP.

You can configure it manually as "forsaken" has suggested.

Here's the  link to the WET610N Users Manual. The detailed instructions for configuring it manually start in Chapter 3.

Or if you just can't get it to work no matter what you can return it and try the D-Link XtremeN DWA522 wireless adaptor.

I've read in other Windows forums that this adaptor worked fine using the Vista x64 drivers but even better now that they just came out a few days ago with a Windows 7 driver, v1.60 11/05/09. (Click on the 'Drivers' link to download the Windows 7 drivers)
