Hello

I would like to know if someone knows what are the main differences between these two PCI wireless network cards

WMP300N and WMP600N

The first one seems to have a better coverage due to the external antenna, the second covers more wireless standards.

Wich one is the better.

Kudos!

The simple anwser:

WMP300N -- 802.11n / g / b compatible 2.4GHz adapter

WPM600N -- 802.11n / g / b / a (??) compatible 5.0GHz and 2.3Ghz adapter

You need to decide which adapterto use by looking at the specs for your router.

That router does only the 2.4GHz type of 802.11n wireless network.

However, both the WUSB300N anfd WUSB600N "do not" work well with the Linksys drivers / software.  Neither adapters have the internal chips "made" directly by Linksys.  These are "licensed" from another company.  WUSB300N was from Marvel and the WUSB600N v1 is from Ralink.

Use the WSUB600N v1 with the Ralink RT2870 drivers.  These Ralink drivers are newer.

WMP300N -

1. Standards :  IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g, Draft IEEE 802.11n, PCI 2.3

2. Security Key Bits : Up to 256-bit wireless encryption

3. Certification : FCC

4. Does not support Windows Vista 64 bit...

5. Not Dual Band

WMP600N -

1. Standards : IEEE 802.11a/b/g, IEEE 802.11n Draft 2.0

2. Security Key Bits : Up to 128-bit wireless encryption

3. Certification : FCC, UL, IC, CE, RoHS, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n Draft 2.0

4. Does support Windows Vista 64 bit...

5. Dual Band

When you compare WMP300N and WMP600N ,you should go with WMP600N(it is better)...

I have the WMP300N working on Vista SP2 64 bit using a D-Link DIR-628. Connects at 270Mbps.

The CD provided some basic drivers, Windows Update then provided with some updated ones with more options.
