Ok. Turns out that the EK/AU versions have the Atheros chipset. The US version has a Broadcom chipset. I can't seem to find out what version of the Broadcom chipset it has, though.

Yes, you are right. It has a Broadcom chipset (bought one yesterday and I am very happy with). Could it be BCM4329? It looks so from hardware ID in the device manager.

In Australia it has the Atheros chipset,  you can get drivers from them that support XP x32 & x64, the x64 drivers work fine.

see    http://www.atheros.cz/download.php?atheros=AR5008&system=2

They also point you to Linux drivers at SourceForge .

You can use the x64 drivers on this page;

The WMP300N (US sold version) does not have a version number printed on either of the two units I have, nor on their boxes.

A probe of the unit identifies the card as a BroadCom Corp BCM43XNG N adapter. Therefore, the broadcom drivers work.

For Linux users, use NDIS wrapper on the .inf file for Windows XP and all will be well with no problems.
