I managed to get Skype working on a WIP 330 fw v1.02.11S.
In principle that is....it does not survive off/on switches of the phone and the procedure has to be redone if Skype is terminated. Working on that part......
>From this procedure it's clear that Skype is still present in a phone with FW 12S and that even your Skype settings from FW 1.1 are still there. I noticed that Skype run this way has some clicks in the sound, not sure why.
IF YOU HAVE NO SKYPE ACCOUNT SETUP WITH WIP 330's 1.1 firmware, Skype will not work. I downgraded and upgraded the phone to get my account setup. See below how to downgrade through a PC.
PLEASE BE CAREFULL, no responsibility taken, this procedure touches the core of the phone.
Anyway for beta testers:
- Find the phone's IP address trough the information icon on the phone
- I'll use 192.168.1.20 as an example. Substitute your phone's IP address, found in the previous step, for that sample number in the steps below.
- get on a PC that can access the phone through an IP network connection. A PC with a similar IP address (192.168.1.x) connected to the same router as the phone, should be able to get access to the phone.
- Check the access by doing the next the 'start browser'
Do the following steps, all on the PC:
- Start the browser on the PC, and surf to “192.168.1.20” (substitute your phones IP address), retry if time out. The first time takes a while on my WIP330
- You'll now see a screen on the PC that enables you to setup the phone
- If logged on as admin (type on the PC: admin, 0000) firmware upgrades/downgrades are possible from a 330 firmware .bin file downloaded to a PC.
- Surf on the PC to http://192.168.1.20/NetworkAdmin/
- Set a password. It's a good thing to do this anyway since others can do the following also when you're using a hotspot. Unfortunately the password does not survive off/on switches
- Surf to http://192.168.1.20/sysAdmin/
- Enter admin and password chosen above
- Choose IE (does not work well on Mozilla/Firefox)
- Choose system tools
- Choose processes
- Type in the launch box: KeyMouseCtrl.exe /Skype
- Hit execute
And Skype appears on the phone. Sometimes you’ll see white flickering screen: a key press will let Skype appear as mentioned. I noticed that Skype run this way has some clicks in the sound, not sure why.
This probably can also be done on the WIP 330 itself. Just start web browser on the phone; do the above steps on the phone's web browser even though the procedure mentions ‘on the PC’. However, substitute 127.0.0.1 for the phone's IP address (192.168.1.20 in the example). It's a lot of typing on the phone, that's why I did not test it.

I have a wip330 not quite sure on what your talking about in getting skype to work tried to follow your guide but you lost me lol in the lets use ip for an example is that in the phone browser or the putter your accessing it from i guess a step by step on how you did it would be better with real ip lol just a idea maybe you could explain more thanks for the heads up and would be interested in getting skype on this one as most hot spots around here need a user name and pass word so a skype phone with out a browser is kind of useless

Thanks for your hard work. I felt sure that some residual Skype coding was still present in the firmware, albeit not easily accessible. I am tempted to try the procedure you outline, very tempted, but since my phone is now up and running well I am reluctant to do a firmware downgrade. Hopefully, it does allow for the potential for a future re enabling of Skype in a future FW upgrade (if there ever is one). Thanks again for the useful info.

There is no need to downgrade if you have had Skype working once on that phone, even if you have done upgrades after that. It could even be that Skype will ask you what to do if it cannot find the config file, but I have not tested that. The web access from a PC to the WIP330, like described, also enables you to backup your files like it used to be possible through USB in earlier versions. There is another way to run Skype, I have tested that but since it concerns killing processes on the phone I hesitate to publish that if not tested by others. The advantage is that access to Skype survives exiting Skype (but not a switch off/on).

Have you managed to do anything else through it? I have managed to run various apps on the phone by uploading them through the web interface and executing them, for example VNCViewer seemed to work, but after the connection the main window disappears but the connection is initiated to the connected device. I am going to play with it more soon.

Firstly, many, many thanks to dick9999 for his excellent post. Like many others I have long suspected the WIP330 in it's most recent firmware (1_02_12S.) still has Skype coding within it. It has been speculated that access to Skype was removed simply to prevent a clash with other Linksys Skype enabled products.
Using v1_02_12S on my phone and following dick9999's excellent walk thru I was able to connect to my Skype account and make a call. It was NOT necessary for me to downgrade my firmware to do so. I was able to connect to my pre existing Skype account - but this had never been accessed from my WIP330.
Again, from dick9999's posting I was able to enable Skype from within the WIP330's own browser by adapting the logon URL's to 127.0.0.1/xxx. A good deal of typing is necessary but this can be minimised by saving the various access URLs to the WIP330's own website favourites. The Skype user name can be automatically saved too. When accessing the http://127.0.0.1/sysAdmin/ page with the WIP330 remember to choose the No Frames option.
Yes, the Skype settings are lost on reboot. Also, the Skype app quits upon exiting a call and I am returned automatically to SIP.
Thanks again to dick9999 and the other posters.
