I have a SPA 1001 (that I have been using since 2005) but it still has firmware version 2.0.10(e)! Where can I locate newer firmware AND the software that uploads the firmware to the device? I am able to find a .bin file on a site in the CZ, but no loader. My SPA refuses to upload the software itself via the provisioning option. Thanks in advance.

Hello EliBCohen, I am not aware of "uploader" soft available for 3.1.19(SE) SPA-1001-NA FW. Anyway, you don't need any. You can use SPA's internal FW updater (if your SPA-1000 is NOT blocked by provider) to self-upgrade directly from that Czech page. If you mean http://spa.vyrobce.cz/ , then to execute follow this short procedure : Provisioning / Firmware Upgrade / Upgrade Rule: http://spa.vyrobce.cz/fw/spa1001.bin Provisioning / Firmware Upgrade / Upgrade Enable: yes (Attention: all letters in the above link to FW version are lowercase) Save the changes, adapter shall reboot. Do not unplug the adapter Check within the 5 minutes if the FW was upgraded to 3.1.19SE If yes, set back Provisioning / Firmware Upgrade / Upgrade Enable: No If not, wait one hour and check again. Do not unplug/reset the adapter. After successfull firmware upgrade, do NOT put back FW upgrade rule from your operator to avoid the FW downgrade. If you don't need provisioning (and adapter is already set) you may be safer if you switch the provisioning OFF Whole this procedure is only for UNLOCKED adapter versions (-NA versions) where you know the admin password. If your adapter shall contain customeized / locked FW version, or is -R, -R1, -R2, -V or so version, you shall not use this generic -NA firmware, and you're fully dependent on the provider's provided FW version (which may not be latest).

Scorpio-cz, Thanks. The device is indeed unlocked. However, it remains at Software Version: 2.0.10(e) Hardware Version: 2.0.1(6234) even after attempted to upload the new software. (1) I read somewhere that the update needs to occur in stages, that is, that I first need to upgrade to some lower version and after that succeed to upgrade to the latest? Could this be the problem? (2) Also, are upgrade errors logged somewhere? I see on the provisioning tab that Log Resync Failure Msg: are logged somewhere. Can you help me figure out where to read the error? Thanks in advance, =eli

From what I can remember, you should download the Firmware of the SPA and uncompress it. Upgrade the SPA's firmware with the following procedures The latest firmware file(s) can be downloaded from the site www.linksys.com/support Firmware files are packaged in zip compressed format. Each file contains a windows binary ".exe" and the raw firmware ".bin" file. There are two methods to upgrade your SPA device: Method A 1. Run the windows executable from a Windows PC. 2. The mini-application will trigger for the SPA device IP address. 3. Application will then try to identify the SPA device and perform the upgrade. During this process, do not power off the SPA device.
Method B
1. Place the raw firmware image "spa.bin" to a reachable tftp server. 2. Go to the address bar of your web browser, and type in: "http://spa-ip-address/upgrade?tftp://tftp-server-ip/spa.bin". 3. The SPA device can use http in place of the tftp method. During this process, do not power off the SPA device. Thanks!

I appreciate the idea, but I started this message because I cannot find any support files. Linksys.com/support now points to http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support. Typing in SPA1001 as the product there brings you to http://www.cisco.com/web/products/linksys/index.html . That menu leads to http://www.cisco.com/public/sw-center/index.shtml which takes me back to http://www.cisco.com/public/sw-center/index.shtml I can find the latest .bin file on the web, but it does not load on my SPA, perhaps because (as somewhere else it is noted), upgrading must be done in stages. I cannot find the .exe loader file anywhere. If you can find the URL on any support site that contains the compressed .bin and .exe file for the SPA 1001, please do send it.

I think what you are looking for is spa1001-3.1.19SE.zip.
Try a Google search on "spa1001-3.1.19SE.zip" and see if you can turn it up.

hw, Thanks, but it didn't work. I twice tried to load the new firmware, each time receiving the error: Upgrade Failed: Version not matching But that error lead me to http://forum.voxilla.com/linksys-sipura-voip-support-forum/spa-1001-firmware-upgrade-problem-11135.html which says that I need to install spa2k-2.0.11g.zip first. Unfortunately, I am unable to locate this (earlier version) file anywhere. The last know URL of it was on the Sipura site. But trying to access that (now defunct) site creates an endless browser loop. So, the best I can tell I have to install version 2 before I can install version 3 of the firmware. I discovered a bunch of SPA drivers at http://debian.mydatex.cz/ but nothing older than version 3. "You can't get there from here"

Hello, I will look to my old disk archives, possibly I may find older SPA-1001 FW somewhere. I am pretty sure I have downloaded all SPA-1001 FW versions I ever came accross. If I found I will post RapidShare links to the different FW files.

I was successfull. The SPA-1001 firmware fles (all I found) are uploaded on RapidShare as one archive (26MB) : http://rapidshare.com/files/305539534/SPA-1001_FW.zip Most of the FW's are both .bin as well as .exe installers. Versions inside the archive : Relase FW's : 2.0.13seg, 3.1.8SE, 3.1.17SE, 3.1.19SE Beta FW's: 3.1.9SE, 3.1.10SE, 3.1.12SE, 3.1.16SE My favorites : 3.1.8SE, 3.1.19SE (this one I currently use on two my SPA-1001 devices)
