I cannot get remote ftp access to my NMH405. I have remote access through https://ciscomediahub.com/ and can browse through my files this way, but I need to have remote access through ftp as well. I have set ut ftp access and it is working locally on my home network.

What is my ftp address?

Can someone please help me with this problem?

If it works in your home network that means that you've set it up correctly. What you need to do know is provide the FTP service to the outside world. This generally means that you want to open up your router on port 20 and 21 and point those to the mediahub's internal IP address. If that is done, you can connect to it from the outside world via ftp://<external_ip_address_whatever_that_may_be>

Good luck,

Stolsel

Hi,

As what stolsel said, you need to do portforwarding for FTP and enable the mediahub FTP service .

I hope this helps.

Hi Erikkoken,

You will also need to know the outside IP address for your location.  You can find it at http://www.whatismyip.com/.  My internet Service Provider gives me a dynamic IP address so it will change every 24 hours.  To fix this I've setup a dynamic host name for myself at http://www.dyndns.com/.  You will also need to read the instruction manual for router for DDNS so you can tell it where to point to and keep the IP address current.

I hope this helps.

Thank you so much for the answers, problem solved!

It is quite easy when you have the instructions, hopless when you don't.

Thanks!

Hi ...

I hope it's ok that I re-open this tread ...

I can't access my FTP from remote PC  ... It is working on my local PC ..

I have configured my NMH405 so FTP is enable ... And I have configured my router D-Link 655 with PortForwarding (TCP port 20 and 21) and (UDP port 20 and 21). Also I have put in my IP adress witch I have found in the Media Hub system (192.xxx.x.xxx)

As written before I can access my HUB from my Internet Explorer by typing FTP://192xxx.x.xxx locally, but when I try this from a remote PC there is no luck ...

What am i doing Wrong ... I have tried to read all i can from this Forum, but I can't get to work ... Please help .. i'm totally newbee :smileysurprised:)

You must use your WAN IP Address (Public IP Address) when accessing FTP remotely. To get your WAN IP Address, you can check it on the status page of your router or go to whatismyip.com

Setting-Up the FTP feature on the Media Hub

Hi Again ...

I have used whatismyip.com and found my WAN IP ... :-)

I now insert the following in my explorer : FTP://87.xx.xx.xx:21 ... But after inserting user and password I still not getting access. It says that explorer cannot open page after a while ... I also tried to shutdown my firewall but with same result ...

Any other solutions ...

Try using this format when accessing your FTP remotely.

ftp://yourusername:yourpassword@WANIP

Hi ...

I have tried using that format when I login with no luck :-( ....

I have now also tried to login using filezilla ... When I look at the information I get, it seems that I get a connection with my HUB (I says welcome to Media Hub and teels my username Queenyard) but after 5-10 sec i says that it can't establish connection to my hub's IP ...

What can be wrong here ... I looks like it is my HUB that refuses the connection .... HEEEELP
