So I setup the WGA600N with my network thou the setup CD. I then move it down to my room and connect it to my XBOX360, and I can seem to figure out how to get the 360 to reconize the network. It sees the WGA as a wireless bridge, but it does not get an IP. Before using the WGA i was able to connect fine with a G-signal using the micrsoft wireless adapter.

Im using a WRT-300N as a router
and the WGA600N to transmit the N signal.

any help would be apreciated.
Kudos!

I had what seems to be the same issue. Have you installed all the Mac Addresses onto your router. I had to put THREE into my router. One was the Lan Mac, another was the wireless Mac (both of these were on the gaming adapters web page uder page), and the last was my XBox 360 Mac address. The last was kind of hidden in submenu after submenu on the Xbox so go to the Xbox site to find where it is on your system. Hope this helps

I can't get mine working with the 360 either.  Tech support showed me how to get into setup manually with web browser, sorry don't recall the ip address right now but I have it at home (it's a very strange ip address to my eyes).  DHCP is disabled by default in this device.......go figure.  DHCP is what allows the device to get ip address assignments from the router.  The one time I tried turning it on I could suddenly no longer access the device from the web browser (i.e it seemed to have switched ip addresses or something).  Linkysys support gave me the settings to setup a static IP in windows on the machine and then I could get into the settings again.  And before you ask I did update the firmware on it, after three hours on the phone with support and being cut off three times I used the live chat on their support site and we got it to the point where another computer could get to the internet through it but it says limited connectivity in the task tray (i.e. probably because DHCP is off).  The setup software is a joke if you ask me and should have a manual setup button like belkin includes in theirs.  I think this thing is just way far from ready to be released.  I have chatted with a guy on the netgear site (I have the new netgear dualband) who says he's got two working with his router but so far I'm not getting far and I think the problem with the 360 is primarily that DHCP is off in the gadget and I don't know if assigning an IP address manually in the xbox is going to fix the problem or not, I'm shy of turning it on again in case it screws up the ability to access the setup again like it did before but I'm really thinking that the problem with the 360 is that DHCP has got to be on for it to work.
Kudos!

Well tonight the networking lord finally chose to smile upon me, I finally have this thing working with my 360.  I will share my settings here in the hope it helps someone else.

Router: Netgear dual band N WNDR3300
settings in router: up to 270 mbps 5 ghz and 54 mbps 2.4ghz
NAT is set to open (microsoft will tell you xbox very picky about NAT, if you don't have separate settings in your router setup you may have to setup a DMZ where the firewall doesn't take effect for your xbox's ip address)
11N channel 157
11G channel 10/2.457

settings in the WGA600N
The ip address for manual setup is 192.168.1.250 if you cannot get in with this typed in your browser window you have to setup a static ip on your machine.  To do this you go to your adapter on the computer you have the gaming device connected to and put this information in the tcp/ip properties:

IP Address:192.168.1.20
Subnet Mask:255.255.255.0
Default Gateway:192.168.1.250

You most likely need to reboot to get this to work, so reboot then go to your browser window and you should then be able to get into the gaming adapter setup.  default password is admin, top box is blank.

First thing to do if you haven't already gotten that far is update the firmware to the December 2007 that you can get on linksy site.  Don't get confused because the firmware number in the corner doesn't change (they don't have enough decimals) it changed because there is one screen where the date is given (make sure it says december after the update).

The solution at least in my case was not DHCP (although I don't get why) I have found that turning that on makes it all go south so leave it off which is the default.  The settings in the static IP window are:

IP Address: 192.168.1.250
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

Other settings:
For my non linksys router I turned off the following options:
WISH: inactive
Wifi Protected Setup: Disabled
Security: Disabled (I don't mess with it so if you need security I wish you good luck)

Unit is set as "wireless bridge"
I really believe that the change I made to get it work was with the radio type settings: I changed it from the default to "Mixed 802.11na, 802.11a, 802.11g"
Transmission: I left at default "Best Auto"
Channel Width: 20/40

Advanced wireless settings make sure you match the channels if you can of your router so mines at 157 and I make sure it says 157 in the adapter.

You must properly input the ssid of the network you want the adapter to connect to in here, I believe there's supposed to be some way to choose in here but I just typed the network name into it and it associated to it that way.  Everything working now, lots of signal, I've played a couple of live games no lag, I suppose the test should be booting up something like halo 3 or gears of war to see how it handles it, no mbps readout that I can find in the xbox setup.  Still fighting with my other computer in the same room to see what it can do with it.

I hope this helps someone and if the powers in here can put this up as some sort of sticky I hope they'll do so.

Hi suemccartin,

This was very good and detailed step-by-step - THANK YOU! My question tho is (after all this is done and working) What are the settings on the Xbox 360 it self?

For example - the IP address in the Xbox is also 192.168.1.20 (gateway is 192.168.1.1) or let's say 192.168.1.21 and the gateway for the xbox is 192.168.1.20? And since the WNA600N is already configured with IP and all and properly connecting to the router.. why would the Xbox also connecting to the wirless network directly instead of just to the Gaming Adapter (with no need of wireless configuration on the Console)..

I hope this makes sense - I am confused my self :smileyhappy:

Kudos!

I let the xbox 360 set itself up, however, it will always "fail" if you tell the 360 to test for internet connectivity.  Don't ask me why, but even if the 360 says your network isn't working it is; hopefully ms will patch this at some point.  I play on live all the time no issues, I've booted up gears of war and played on line no issues, same with halo three.  I don't remember right now if I had to set an ip in the xbox; I'd have to go and look quite honestly.  I don't play the xbox a lot lately, considering getting it going again because I miss some of my games and a couple of lovely little arcade ports they have on live (brings back the memories of youth, LOL).
Kudos!
