WCG200 Cable Router loses internet, comes back when reset...

okay here is my situation...I have a WCG200 Cable Router, and when there are a significant # of people on it (more than about 5 or 6) or someone is downloading a significant amount of information on Limewire or some other programs we lose the internet. Now I know it isnt the internet itself, because as soon as I reset the router the internet comes back, but if I dont reset it then it doesnt...and the router stays on, and i still get signal on my laptop, just cant get online or anything...

help anyone?

the thread posted above is NOT related to this issue.  This issue is with V2 hardware over wireless and not ISP specific and not related to firmware upgrades from comcast. 

 

I have the same issue and can reproduce it easily by starting Limewire and downloading a big file.  I bought a brand new wcg200 from best buy, registered it via Comcast and the same thing happened.  This doesn't reproduce via wired connection.  i have to reset the modem to regain access to the internet.

 

this is definitely a hardware issue from linksys...

linksys tech support says to try wireless channels 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11.  they say that "you may have another wireless connection that may interfere with your connection."
 
i'll try this when i get home but if anyone wants to try reproducing this on all wireless channels please do.

It happens with mine when I'm connected wirelessly and when I'm not. And my computer's the only one here. I'm on wireless channel 6.

you mean it happens with a wired connection too?  do the ds/us/online lights go off?

Yes, it happens both ways - wireless and connected by the USB cable. The lights blink off, then the four red (ethernet) lights flash a couple times, then they all flash and go out for several seconds. Then it reconnects on its own.

does it say v2 on the bottom of your wcg200?  does it happen with wired Ethernet connection (not USB)?

linksys support says the v2 hardware should be running 2.94e and comcast home networking dept. can supposedly upgrade the modem to that version.... when i called comcast home networking they said they cannot upgrade modems that aren't wcg200cc.

end result, go back to v1 hardware.

That sounds suspiciously like an intermittent power supply connection failure, like might occur from loose power cord.

Could that be happening here? Anything knocking against or moving any of the power cords or jacks on any end?
